Official: Ukraine wants no obligations to pump gas in storages
MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Ukraine will not plan to take on the responsibility for pumping gas into its underground storages ahead of winter to ensure stable supplies to Europe, Yury Vitrenko, director for business development of energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy, told PRIME June 7.
“Naftogaz Ukrainy sees no sense in committing to purchasing and putting gas into underground storages. The fulfillment of such obligations depends on many factors,” Vitrenko said.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said earlier that Russia wants to include an E.U. liability to give financial aid to Ukraine and a liability for Ukraine to possess certain gas reserves in a new deal.
